Let Amazon pick, pack, and ship your orders

You sell it, we ship it. Amazon has one of the most advanced fulfilment networks in the world. With Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), you store your products in Amazon's fulfilment centres, and we pick, pack, ship, and provide customer service for these products. FBA can help you scale your business and reach more customers.

Keeping Control of Packaging, Branding, and the Customer Experience

Sellers on Amazon IE who want direct control over packaging, branding, and the customer experience can combine fulfilment options and Amazon brand-building tools to create an experience that aligns with their business goals.

1. Use Merchant Fulfilment for Full Packaging Control
Sellers who choose merchant fulfilment (MFN) store, pack, and ship orders themselves. This gives them direct control over packaging materials, branded inserts, and the overall unboxing experience, provided all packaging and communications comply with Amazon policies.
With MFN, sellers can also create their own shipping templates, define delivery regions, and manage fulfilment timelines directly through Seller Central.

2. Build Your Brand Presence on Amazon
For brand owners, the customer experience extends beyond the package itself. Enrolling in Amazon Brand Registry provides access to tools that help create a stronger brand presence across Amazon IE.
Brand Registry unlocks A+ Content, allowing sellers to enhance product detail pages with additional images, comparison charts, and brand storytelling. It also provides access to a free Amazon Store, where brands can create a dedicated storefront and control how products, imagery, and brand messaging are presented to customers.

3. Combine FBA and MFN to Support Different Brand Goals
FBA and MFN can be used together within the same seller account. Many sellers use FBA for high-volume products to benefit from Prime eligibility and Amazon's fulfilment network, while keeping selected products on MFN when a premium or customised unboxing experience is an important part of the brand offering.
Sellers can assign different fulfilment methods to individual products, allowing them to choose the approach that best supports each product's operational and branding requirements.

Competing on Delivery Speed Without a Full FBA Commitment

Small Irish businesses can compete with large retailers on Amazon IE delivery speed by enrolling in Seller Fulfilled Prime, which lets you display the Prime badge and promise fast delivery while shipping orders directly from your own location.

Seller Fulfilled Prime is designed for sellers who have reliable in-house despatch operations and want the visibility of the Prime badge without moving all stock into Amazon fulfilment centres. To qualify, sellers must meet defined performance standards covering on-time despatch, valid tracking rates, and cancellation rates, which you can review in full on Seller Central before applying. For sellers who ship a focused range of high-velocity products on a consistent schedule, this route can provide a practical and cost-controlled path to Prime-speed listings on Amazon IE.

For sellers not yet eligible for Seller Fulfilled Prime, Fulfilment by Amazon remains the most straightforward route to the Prime badge, fast delivery promises, and Amazon-managed customer service. The two programmes are not mutually exclusive: many growing Irish businesses use FBA for their core catalogue while handling select lines themselves, giving them flexibility to scale at a pace that suits their operations. Use the Fulfilment by Amazon Revenue Calculator in Seller Central to compare the cost of each fulfilment model against your current margins before deciding.

Understand how your fulfilment model affects VAT requirements

Depending on the nature of your business, you will be required to register for a VAT number in a European country as per the regulations. Some of the factors that influence your VAT obligations are the fulfilment model and the country of inventory storage.

FBA Inventory Management

Use the tools in your selling partner account to list products, create shipping plans, send in shipments, track and monitor your shipments, and remove inventory from Amazon fulfilment centres.

Inventory Performance Dashboard

Your Inventory Performance Dashboard displays your Inventory Performance Index (IPI) score, along with key influencing factors. Be sure to check your IPI score regularly—a low score could lead to overage fees and limit your ability to send more inventory.

Manage excess inventory

Optimize your inventory levels by knowing when to mark down or remove your products. Monitor detailed information about storage fees, opportunities to drive sales, and suggestions to help improve returns on your inventory.

Track inventory age

Improve sell-through rates and avoid long-term storage fees. Use Inventory Age tools to understand how much inventory you’re holding, and see how long it’s been in fulfilment centres.

Fix stranded inventory

Keep your listings active by including necessary pricing and condition information and resolving errors. If your inventory is in fulfilment centres without an associated active listing, it’s not available for purchase.

Restock inventory

Keep your best-selling inventory in stock with personalized restock recommendations. You can also adjust for future promotions and seasonal demand patterns. Track your inventory and supplier orders so that you’re prepared to meet product demand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the frequently asked questions about Fulfilment by Amazon
How does Amazon FBA work for Irish sellers?
Amazon provides fulfilment services that allow Irish sellers to outsource storage, delivery, and customer service.

Here is how it works:

1. You send your products to Amazon’s fulfilment centres
2. Amazon stores your inventory within its logistics network
3. When a customer places an order, Amazon processes it
4. Amazon picks, packs, and ships the product
5. Customer service and returns are handled by Amazon

To prepare your products correctly before shipping, it’s important to follow Amazon’s packaging and prep requirements to ensure smooth processing within fulfilment centres.
Can small Irish businesses earn the Prime badge without using Amazon's fulfilment centres?
Yes. Seller Fulfilled Prime allows eligible sellers on Amazon IE to display the Prime badge and offer fast delivery while shipping orders from their own premises. Sellers must meet Amazon's performance requirements for on-time despatch, valid tracking, and low cancellation rates. Full eligibility criteria are available in Seller Central.
Can I use my own branded packaging when selling on Amazon IE?
Yes. When you fulfil orders yourself through merchant fulfilment (MFN), you control all aspects of packaging and may include branded materials, provided they comply with Amazon's seller communication and packaging policies. FBA orders are packed and shipped by Amazon, so custom packaging is not available for that fulfilment method. Many sellers use both methods together, reserving MFN for products where the unboxing experience is a key part of the brand.
